Thailand’s southernmost province is set to open Thailand’s southernmost airport as the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand is nearing completion of safety inspections for Betong International Airport in Yala province. The CAAT is doing safety and security inspections now, which will be followed by a license and certification that will allow commercial flights to operate in and out of the airport. One runway for landings and One for take-offs, 300 passengers per hour can be processed.  Seems like it will be a busy little airport.  Wonder how many I/O's will be needed to cover the incoming passengers who are flying in from another country.

Could do very well long term if the political situation in the area gets resolved.

Very pretty area with lots of national parks and could be of interest to muslim tourists also.

Malaysia pre crisis had be doing very well attracting muslim tourists from the middle east to the country.

Numbers had been going up year on year.
