An alarming sign of pollution was found in a young green turtle rescued from a Phuket beach last month and found to have over 150 pieces of garbage and plastic clogging its stomach and intestines. The turtle was first found on Kata Beach in Phuket on July 23rd looking weak and sick. The sea turtle was taken in by veterinarians at Sireetarn Marine Endangered Animals Rescue Centre for study and treatment. an average of 1.3 tons of mismanaged waste is created each year of which is 0.41 tons ends up in Thailand seas ”  — maybe its more like 1.3 million tons?   We seriously needs to phase out plastic waste using biodegradable alternatives.

Its crazy how much plastic you get nowadays.  In the "good old days(tm)", it was a banana leaf for packaging or *maybe* a plastic bag for your drink.

 

Nowdays, the sauce is in a plastic bag, the food, then a bag to hold it, etc.  You end up with so much pointless waste.

TN can play the typical Thai officialdom blame game and say 'it was all Coconut's fault . . . don't criticise us!' Not good, though, when the error is as blatant as this one.

i wonder, what if we drain the sea, what we all will find... we will be amazed and it is not only the sea, look in Pattaya for example people dump everywhere their garbage, if one do it the next one comes and in 3 days their is a pile of garbage.... or they finish their drink throw it in the bushes.... i hate it like hell

A post of the day contender, there, @Paco! Thanks for that. But how can 'the people' be persuaded to stop making such a mess of their beautiful space . . . their beautiful Thailand?

They simply do not value it... and you can not learn them that, they already try to learn people for 18 years that I am here to where a helmet on the motorbike... and they do not... no helmet but they where a mask.. does it make sense? They do not want to die of covid but yes of an accident...
