A very odd decision. There is a reason that wide bodies are more efficient on long haul flights, the engines, that are designed specifically for hours spent at high level. There is a reason that Boeing developed the B737 and Airbus the A320 family, for short haul routes, that spend short periods at higher levels and take many more landing and take off cycles. It's not about passenger capacity, it's about flight efficiency. Just fly more short haul aircraft on the short haul routes, like Ryanair, Easy Jet, Southwest and all low cost airlines. A very strange idea by Thai,
