Pattaya beach remodel project defended by mayor

Recommended Posts

After an uproar paused a beach remodel project that began Sunday, the Pattaya City Mayor held a press conference to explain and justify the remodel plans. Community leaders and notable residents protested the plans to launch the refurbishment, with complaints mainly on two grounds. First, many objected to the removal of trees that would come along with revamping the beachfront. And second, many felt the outpouring of money into an upgrade while so many were struggling and suffering from the economic effects of Covid-19 was a slap in the face to locals. Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunploem addressed the local […]

Yet another waste of money by the mayor, when will it ever stop ? I bet there is zero chance of full disclosure on anything these clowns do, probably 1 quote for the whole job and no penalties attached oh and rest assured the brown envelopes already emptied. Seems to be very much business as usual but don't ask about the vaccines, I see another record day of 2300 doses.

It is odd. And what company being who exactly is making the money doing this work? That is what everyone should be looking at and who the connection is to. There should be a trail somewhere.

There always is.

Millions upon millions of baht every two years , 30% of which follows Thai tradition and is syphoned off into the pockets of the corrupt officials.

the brother of the mayor of course like with all projects and he never finish a thing, people should make photos of the projects that are started (street projects) and they left behind with weed all over the place because it was never finished, why the remodeling, has been done a few years ago and 6 months ago it looked fine and still new... just another projects to fill the pockets of his own family, mayor of Pattaya is one of the most corrupt once, with his disgusting smile on the billboards... he can stand next to Tony's picture lol

want to see a clear difference, Jomtien, had been remodeled years ago still looks good never remodeled again, reason probably is: it does not have the mayor of Pattaya that is corrupt ....

they fixed the draining system... and is it fixed? NO, holes in the wrote , they just throw in some lose stones or use cheap stuff so the hole opens again in 2 days, on the bypass road they make the road for a long time is just there work never finished and the list goes on.... nobody says or do anything so he keeps on supporting his own brother that does the amateur work

the only remodeling Pattaya needs is getting a new mayor

It will be never be Miami or Singapore because of their low level standards, greed, pollution, incompetence, bad education and no skills . They even cannot manage to make a proper sidewalk. But their mindset is the biggest proplem why they never can be a developped city like these cities they mentioned.

In a nutshell.

Anyone who has visited Singapore (and spoken to the locals) will understand how accurate Stardust's words are.

And did you know that when they finish the pumping station at main junction with Pattaya Tai / Sukhumvit road, they are going to dig it all up cause more chaos and spend even more money to install a underpass / overpass as was done at Pattaya Klang, I wonder what the timescale and cost is going to be for that ?

TIT.

Hard for some folks to believe, but they are trying to plan for the future and better to perform a major upgrade now while tourists are not crowding the area currently.  In my pre-retirement life in the construction industry, the less people around a project site the safer and faster a project can be completed.  I have never known of any company ever working for free, as there are costs for venders, employees, cost and maintenance of construction equipment, and just the general cost of of being in business in which most are trying to make a profit.  There is a money trail if it is a government awarded project and would to be public knowledge, but this is Thailand and as some have said probably behind the scenes skimming of funds.    https://thethaiger.com/news/pattaya/pattayas-beach-road-to-add-an-extra-lane-part-of-multi-million-baht-renovation-plan

And having lived in Miami and singapore I'm absolutely delighted it will never be like either of those places.

I don't think anybody here(self included) would like all the rules and regulations you have to abide by or the cost of living real estate in particular in either of those locations.

Indeed.

Perhaps Gummy was jesting diplomatically.

I recall land for a waste dump bought by his father then sold on to Pattaya a week later, allegedly netting him a profit of 100,000% in a week (a thousand times what he paid).
