In a bizarre midnight showdown by Jomtien Beach, a city official found himself at the centre of a street-side skirmish over none other than a cat’s chair. Jomtien municipal officer Kritsana Rattanakhuen filed a formal complaint with Pattaya City Police on Thursday, November 7, after an encounter that escalated from polite request to heated confrontation. … …

What is it with these knob heads that want to fight at the drop of a hat (if they have numerical advantage of course as they are all cowards)!

Your bias is showing thru... this was one DorD man ranting against another... much akin to what goes on in your home country every day and night.

Reads to me this was a city official making a reasonable request who was abused by a dick head for no reason. Yes this does happen in my country sometimes but seemingly with far less frequency than in Thailand which doesn't make it any better and is usually dealt with promptly by the police at the time. I do have a bias you are right I am biased against idiots who see violence as the first port of call in any situation whatever country they are from.

Hahaha... A Thai in an authority position making a reasonable request... NEVER happened... he demanded that his "request" be done now you dog... and my guess is that it happens less frequently here in Thailand than in your home country.

I agree with both sides - many Thais in authority tend to be aggressive and demanding, while many Thais unhappy with something tend to be aggressive and threatening. When those two meet the outcome here is usually inevitable. The Thai public servant will not be sacked (but embarrassed which is better), and the person involved will get a slap on the wrist and maybe a small fine.  It is only when one or both of them have a weapon and decide to use it that things go apepoo - and here, many of them carry a knife and some a gun. The lesson for Expats is - never argue - agree and walk away.

Did he? Were you there to witness this? Or is it just YOUR prejudices showing through?

Just pointing out that there may be more to the story than you or I know...

I concur - based on my experiences with Thai males in Authority when it comes to a confrontation.

I once had a Thai Policeman pull his gun, because my car was blocking a few Mercedes (did not point it at me - just a threat). Did I snatch it from the little Hitler beetch and shove it up his backside? No - I moved the car - quickly.
