Good on you people, keep it up.  Governments have no business in airline decision making.  Caveat to that, you had better make sure that your 'independent airline' is profitable, safe, customer friendly and efficient.  Those things don't always go together, just see BA for a prime example. .

The Government should enforce their rules and demand acceptance from the Management and Unions or they withdraw their financial guarantees and they can survive on their own. Many times the Thai Govt has had to bail this cesspool of corrupt management and a massively over-staffed organisation. Years ago I read that for every X million in revenue Singapore Airlines had Y staff.  The Thai Airways had almost 10 times as many staff per the same amount of revenues. It was one of the things agreed when negotiating bankruptcy avoidance - drastically reduce the staff numbers.  Not pilots or stewards or maintenance - the administrative staff who sit in offices on fakebook most of the day - same as they do in other Government organisations (and many private ones too).
