People driving against the flow of traffic is so commonplace in Thailand (albeit it is usually motorcycles) it is inevitable that this type of accident will happen. You might think though a police officer would have seen the results often enough to discourage him from doing it unless of course there were other factors like alcohol, drugs or falling asleep at the wheel.
