I guess there will always be some families where physical punishment is meted out but my personal experiences in Thailand is that if anything Thai kids (particularly boys) are often lacking in any form of discipline. -

Can't say I really approve of police officers punching kids in the face but why was a 13 year old not legally old enough to ride a moped/motorcycle riding one seemingly with his mothers blessing? Maybe he was a mouthy gobshite and deserved a smack but repeated punching is going a bit far!
