Hope he gets the maximum penalty and serves 11 years to send a very clear message that drunk driving is NEVER acceptable.

I doubt that will happen, being a celeb he will probably pay a large fine and restitution to the deceaseds' family. 

At least he didn't just drive off or run away.

Sadly I suspect this is true with the two tier justice system in Thailand if you are rich you can buy your way out of trouble!

Sort of like Kennedy back in the day... HUH?  Or any myriad of wealthy offenders throughout the world... why limit it to Thailand?

Because in Thailand the corruption is from the very bottom to the very top of the food chain and is SOLEY about money rather than money and political or social clout

I have found that your typical Thai, more often than not, accepts what is done cannot be undone and that all men are not equal. So they’ll make the best of a bad situation by forgoing vengeance, accepting compensation and move on.

Having worked for a Thai company for 10 years+ my interaction with Thais has been anything but limited. Most of the Thais I know recognise that corruption is bad in Thailand and permeates ALL levels of society from the motorcyclist bribing police when caught without helmet to senior politicians accepting favours/bribes.

You call it corruption... most Thais view it as a way of life... it's integrated in the culture and lifestyle... they view it as neither bad nor good... it just is.

I think they view it as bad(unless it helps them) 

But as you and Fanta said

 

They just make due

 

I contend that the US and other countries have way worse corruption, and it is worse because it's not on the surface level like it is in Asia a lot of the times
