130 baht ffs

I've only got scammed one time in 22 years

At a beer bar in Hua Hin

My wife and I had a few drinks

They tried to take around 200 baht

We questioned them and they got very defensive

We were 100% correct

But I wasn't going to make a scene like this guy for 200 baht

We shamed them enough remaining calm and telling them off

That was our 200 bahts worth

It's a shame none of those Thai boys that like to gang up on farang weren't around for this guy

That's also what I thought, he got off lucky, in a touristy place he was done for.

I got scammed in Colombia

My buddy and I booked a boat tour but we saw one of the most secluded beautiful beaches I have ever seen and we asked the tour to drop us off there instead of the busy island they were taking everyone else

So when they picked us back up we were in a good mood and left our guards down

Total rookie mistake

The tour went to another island where they dropped us off at a restaurant for lunch

The waiter was super friendly and gave us suggestions and we just agreed

Never looked at a menu

The bill came and it was like $200usd

Should have been  $50

Complete scam

We questioned it but we just decided to chalk it up to our stupid mistake

Especially in Colombia

I will take the $75 hit and move on (and I like confrontation  😀  )

If that was in Cartagena Colombia, That is the same as the jet ski scam in Thailand.  Everyone knows to stay clear of that area. Absolutely beautiful, but you need to have a local with you if possible or bypass it. The restaurant scam is a daily rip off. 200, you got off cheap. I have seen some with over 1000 dollars. And the bouncers will get the money.  I avoid Cartagena like the plague.  Every time I do something like that I am kicking myself for weeks afterwards.

No  wasn't Cartagena

But I agree 1000% on Cartegena

I was not a fan at all of the vibe of the place

As you say, beautiful but a very bad vibe all around

I'm glad I went and saw it but would not go back

I really liked Medelline though
