Splitting the bill on a conventional man/woman first date ( no idea what gay couples do, or should do, nor the rest of the LGBTQ+++ so called 'community' ) says three things; one, he is a cheap skate who will never impress any woman, or make any real effort to do so,  two, he has no developed adult social skills, three, he isn't into you and is just going through the motions.  The idea of being a 'gentlemen' appears to be outdated among millennials', GEN Z, X and other letters of the alphabet, and they are all the worse for it.

Hey, 1st date you may want to impress but with feminism getting so strong....its not bad to throw the ball back into their court.

Re the Chinese guy, for fak sake if my potential gf turned up with 23 friends at a dinner expecting me to pay.  I'd done a runner. Fak paying for those leeches.

And it's obvious she's only in it for the money.

Pay as you go only goes so far!

Met my wife 22 years ago

We agreed to meet for hotpot in Phuket

She rolled in with 4 other friends

I laughed to myself and knew she was taking the piss.  Getting a free meal for her friends 😀

But it was my 1st time in Thailand and I honestly figured it was worth the bill(which wasn't much those days) to hang around locals for a day

PS....In a bit of defense of the little scoundrel

I did spend gobs of money the night I met her. So I guess she assumed a 2k meal wouldn't be an issue
