Bangkok Hospital in Pattaya announces vaccines for foreigners

Recommended Posts

Bangkok Hospital just announced a new scheme to offer Covid-19 vaccines to foreigners in Pattaya meeting certain qualifications. The hospital chain posted on their social media announcements a plan to offer free Covid-19 vaccines on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. After months of outcry, Thailand has finally begun to make vaccines more available to foreigners. The plan is a bit strange in that what vaccine you get depends on what day of the week you make an appointment. On Tuesdays, patients will receive the first of 2 doses of AstraZeneca, while on Wednesdays people will be given the first of 2 […]

They are only offering the crap vaccines:

"On Tuesdays, patients will receive the first of 2 doses of AstraZeneca, while on Wednesdays people will be given the first of 2 doses of Sinovac. Every Thursday, they will give people with appointments a Sinovac vaccine and schedule their second vaccine to be a dose of AstraZeneca, mixing the 2 vaccines."

Where the hell are the Pfizer doses that are supposed to go the high risk, over 60 group?

No more nor less than any other. Some people are just absolutely hypnotized by the US/EU MRNA adverts and cult of personality figureheads babbling on to anyone dumb enough to listen and get in line.

Fair question, but it's one of those 'one man's poison is another man's medicine' issues. I'm waiting for the Mrs to 'escort' me (an over 60) to my local state hospital for the first of a couple of AZ jabs. And big thanks for your debut post!

So that will mean another very small percentage of additional people vaccinated in Thailand.

You might reach the desired 70% of people vaccinated by 2025 at this rate.

BHP has been giving out free AZ shots to the "over 60s and/or with underlying symptoms" crowd for a couple of weeks now.

However, before it was only for those who had a doctor at BHP recommend it. No "walk in" vaccinations.

Thai friends got their first shot of Sino yesterday at Pattaya City Hospital. Others got their first free shot at the Chaiyapruek stadium back in May.

I've registered on that "expatvac" site for what it's worth (little or nothing I suspect). Also registered for a Moderna jab in October.
We'll see which gets here first. My 2nd AZ is scheduled for October as well.

Doc tells me that 1 AZ and 1 Moderna would be better than 2 AZs (and of course, AZ is leaps and bounds better than Sino).

But anything is better than nothing as studies have shown that people who've been vaccinated with any vaccine are less likely to suffer the full effects of the virus if they get infected (and are significantly less likely to die from it as well).

None of the vaccines are a guarantee that you won't catch the virus though.
There's simply a smaller chance of getting infected and a better chance of surviving an infection.

But hey, don't bother actually looking up the information or anything because after all, the guy you overheard in the bathroom at the mall the other day swore that his friend knew a guy that had a cousin who dated a girl that had a brother who went to school with a guy that claimed that medicine made for horses is just as good as any vaccine.

And who needs more proof than that ?

Or you could listen to people like Trump, who honestly believes he is smarter than everyone else, including top medical professionals and almost caused a massive panic by suggesting people should inject disinfectant to kill the virus.

""And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?"

(Yes, he actually said that, in public.)

Well done in managing to register for Moderna. ?

My Thai wife succeeded, but I (a few seconds behind her on a different computer) failed to do so.

I have read of a few studies (Spanish, UK, German) which concluded the AstraZeneca followed my mRNA Pfizer is superior to two AZ.  Moderna is also a mRNA and I note Angela Merkel (and others in Germany) went for 1st AstraZeneca and second mRNA.   I just wish there were more studies conforming the AZ/Moderna mix.

I tend to believe the AstraZeneca/Moderna mix is superior, but my belief only means something to myself.

One potential downside is the AstraZeneca/Moderna mix may not be recognized by other countries as a valid "full" vaccine .... although one could also note that two jabs of Thailand's AstraZeneca is yet to be 'approved' as a valid full vaccine by the European Medical Association (EMA) ... so maybe that's a mute point of mine.

That is my view ... nominally go for the 1st vaccine one can get.

Agreed - also my view.

In addition to being vaccinated (I had my first AZ back in late June) I also try to eat healthy (more than normal) and stay fit, going for a 5km jog every day (at my age of 67 years) ... where again, the need to stay fit to help fight this virus if I should be exposed, is a strong motivator in my case.

welcome to new, normal life /normality.
-
1. non pandemic ""virus"" is a very dangerous virus.
2. sick making or mRna (avoid your immune-system) vaccine, is effective and save.
3. useless governments (corruption in every corner), by to let most people vaccinate,
will help and make free, for you or from you. ;)
-
4. at the end, you not even own your clothes, as car and home,
5. with social credit system (behaving point account) as in china,
as a monitoring-camera on every head,
oh yeah, this must be freedom. :D
6. more fear, less activities, and most people fear almost always, is never learned in school.
-

7. governments with news, etc. made many millions of people poor and depressed,
result, most people think, if i behave nice with government, i will not be punished too hard.
8. most people put reason away, long time ago, and with mask, tell others, what you must do. ?

another item that deserves "???" ...    In my case I jog 5km everyday (age-67) and part of motivate to stay active/fit, is to contribute to my ability to fight any infection I may get ... just like I take a vaccine for the same reason.

I understand your questioning remarks and ????'s on this post, but I think allowance needs to be made where a post reveals a likely difficulty of either language or expression, as in this case I suspect.
