I too have choked many times on Thai desserts... I would rank them in the top three terrible desserts in the world.

People in Japan choke on mochi every year 

Especially New Years the govt issues warnings as people eat shiruko and ozoni then

Indeed. I read somewhere that January 1st has the highest death rate in Japan, most likely due to overindulgence and the like.

Then don't drink coke... regardless we are discussing "dessert" (usually a sweet course or dish usually served at the end of a meal) after all... not designed to be a main course.
