News Forum - Big pay day: Thailand minimum wage to hike to 400 baht in 2025
See my post above - this is not a simple matter of what is 'justified' or 'overdue'. That is not the point - it is about the Thai economy going downwards, and what the Govt is doing to slow/stop that decline. This announcement only adds fuel to the fire - not much, but for some it will make a difference. The number one reason manufacturers make stuff here is because of the cheaper labour costs - taking that away by making it 600 Baht in 2027 (almost double what it is now) is not a good idea - period. -

News Forum - Your perfect vacation guide to Chiang Mai
Amen. I flew direct from Osaka to Chiang Mai in July and started my trip from there. Makes more sense to me to leave from Bangkok rather than enter the country there. I’ll be doing that from now on.- 1

News Forum - Big pay day: Thailand minimum wage to hike to 400 baht in 2025
When the local Colgate franchise can make it elsewhere and bring it into the country for 20-30% less than it costs in Thailand, things will change. It has already started - China is having an impact already, and companies are leaving and not many new ones coming. This wages measure on its own would not be an issue, but combined with the other factors and the statement it will be 600 Baht in 2027, means businesses will be even more reluctant to invest in Thailand. Things are not going good at the moment. News Forum - Your perfect vacation guide to Chiang Mai
All good. The main downsides I found to Chiang Mai were the smoke during the Nov/Dec to Feb/March periods, and the remoteness of the City - long way to drive and planes mainly go to Bangkok first and then to the rest of the country. One of the things that needs to change in Thailand, is it's Bangkok Centric mentality. Planes should be going from the larger cities direct to each other - not always via Bangkok. Same with so many other things. Take a look at good used cars in Thailand (one2car is the biggest) - most of them seem to be shipped to Bangkok. There are heaps of Mercedes and BMWs here - but SFA used ones for sale. The other thing that was annoying about CM, not so much now I hear, was the annual influx of the ignorant rude loud Chinese Tour groups, because of that Chinese movie 'Lost in CM'. Thais would always give way to them when walking - I stopped doing that and started walking straight in the direction I was going - they quickly backed down and got out of my way - knocked a few over, but they always ran away. IMO never give way to dogs - stand your ground or path.- 1
