Expert: Half of Thailand infected in 100 days without vaccines

Recommended Posts

Claiming everything should be a breach of contract. What happens if AZ sues SB or even cancels the contract and SB isn't allowed to use the AZ IP anymore. Will BS continue producing and risking getting sued even harder? Trust and investor confidence are gone anyway. Now let's also trash foreign relations to its ASEAN neighbors. Stupid!

One of the foremost researchers... I would call an Expert, weighed in on the subject just 1.5 months ago...

“For people younger than 45, the infection fatality rate is almost 0%. For 45 to 70, it is probably about 0.05%-0.3%. For those above 70, it escalates substantially.”

"I feel extremely sad that my predictions were verified. “Major consequences on the economy, society and mental health” have already occurred. I hope they are reversible, and this depends to a large extent on whether we can avoid prolonging the draconian lockdowns and manage to deal with COVID-19 in a smart, precision-risk targeted approach, rather than blindly shutting down everything. Similarly, we have already started to see the consequences of “financial crisis, unrest, and civil strife.” I hope it is not followed by “war and meltdown of the social fabric.”

Globally, the lockdown measures have increased the number of people at risk of starvation to 1.1 billion, and they are putting at risk millions of lives, with the potential resurgence of tuberculosis, childhood diseases like measles where vaccination programs are disrupted, and malaria. I hope that policymakers look at the big picture of all the potential problems and not only on the very important, but relatively thin slice of evidence that is COVID-19."

And... Here is a bit of good news...

"Ending the COVID-19 pandemic will require long-lived immunity to SARS-CoV-2. Here, we evaluate 254 COVID-19 patients longitudinally up to eight months and find durable broad-based immune responses."

The sooner we can vaccinate as many we can a.s.a.p before more mutations can develop the sooner we can ease up on restrictions, open up,get jobs back, revive tourism, save the economy, and give a glimmer of hope back to the Thai people. I fully agree with this doctor,3 months delay of exports could save more lives and Thailands battered economy. This Dr is presuming the worst scenario, it may not happen but his suggestion should be seriously considered to be on the safe side.It is vaccinations that will stop this ,restrictions only slow it down.

He has my vote.

Actually we're not that far away from that time-frame already. Thailand has been carrying out 50,000-60,000 tests a day since July, and finding 15,000-22,000 cases a day. You can do the arithmetic, 30%-36% positive rate. If they were testing at a serious level, like Malaysia's for example, and doing 100,000-200,000 tests a day, they would find 50,000-75,000 cases a day(?). In overcrowded places like some BKK districts you can assume 1 in 5 or 1 in 4 is, or has been, infected.

I was just having a discussion about cases elsewhere and would have been nice to have a link of some sort for the data on testing. Where did you derive your case numbers from?

Well that's the point made by @Cqman...... no country is handling this well. They ignore the facts shown by statistics 18months+ into this "pandemic", wasting effort and time in worrying about people testing positive by way of an unreliable test not designed for purpose, who are not ill and panicking about people who are mildly ill and will be up and about in a week or 2.

There are alternative and probably longer term strategies to be effected here. Using emergency powers to break export contracts is high risk. No affected countries will trust Thailand again and neither will the drug companies wish to allow production here, especially as this contract situation must have been known to the government from the start.

Changing the strategy and thinking towards how they handle C19 is needed.

Actions based on statistical evidence from the last 18 months is well overdue. They are starting to recognise the aged and those with existing conditions are the most likely to be seriously ill.

However, they still don't recognise that being mildly ill or asymptomatic is not a bad thing and helps with herd immunity. Locking down factories and taking away the positive tested, but well people, is wasting resources.

Protecting the old by preventing travel to the villages by the young is a good idea but locally I would like to see businesses open up and people told its their choice, their risk..... if they have pre existing conditions they should isolate and self protect. If they fall ill, stay at home unless they are seriously ill. If they want to protect vulnerable family members, then make suitable arrangements or the local government can provide isolation units in hotels on a voluntary basis until those people are vaccinated.

There are also alternative medical protocols that could be tried safely and cheaply. Look up FLCCC and Ivermectin.

Broadly, except for travel, stop telling people what not to do and let them take responsibility for their own lives.

Sadly this was known to all over 1 year ago but ignored. All governments have failed in their handling and need to change their approach to reflect this reality.

Iceland is a good example of what vaccinating the majority of the population does.  Now they are saying there it's best for everyone but the elderly and immune compromised to get natural immunity, thus providing herd immunity.  Israel is on round 3 and those boosters are already showing to be failing.

What's the definition of insanity?  Keep doing the same thing and expecting different outcomes.  Lockdowns, lockdowns and vaccines, more lockdowns and vaccines.  Now more variants are escaping arising from mass vax campaigns as data from countries that report actual data show.  Israel, the UK, Iceland, Gibraltar, Seychelles etc.  It doesn't matter what vax the country got, the virus mutates when pressured.  Funny that the countries that were the test subjects of the trials, were the countries where the first variants came from.

What is so funny about this silliness is.........If they test the other half they will see the same result

This country for 2+ years claimed oh we are really good at this taking temps & we have no covid even though we dont test for it.....Fact is that is like standing under a star filled night & saying we are the only planet in the universe

Thailand was wide open to Chinese tourist during Covid's discovery...They cannot actually believe when the Chinese left a giant vacuum sucked all of the Covid out of Thailand? Yet the rest of the world had no such vacuum? Lucky Thailand?

Don't be so silly Thailand...But wait there is good news...........Notice since 2019 at the start of Covid till you finally tested for covid in 2021 your hospitals & crematories were not overrun with dead bodies?

So if you survived the initial 2 years with blind ignorance you will surely survive the next two

Lastly look at your covid daily DEATHS NUMBER not your daily infections

Notice the number? Now look at your 2018 Flu & Pneumonia daily deaths number...See that it is 122 ??

Or 44,549 for the year 2018?

Lets hope this happens so Thailand can get to herd immunity faster!

Totally.

I had it, recovered easily and now have the antibodies.

According to science, I do not need the vaccine

Unfortunately, Pharam is pushing the anti-science narrative that natural immunity is not a thing as they simply want to sell vaccines

Here's something from a 2015 paper. This is what we are seeing right now.

Imperfect Vaccination Can Enhance the Transmission of Highly Virulent Pathogens

"Vaccines that keep hosts alive but still allow transmission could thus allow very virulent strains to circulate in a population. Here we show experimentally that immunization of chickens against Marek's disease virus enhances the fitness of more virulent strains, making it possible for hyperpathogenic strains to transmit."

No, this was not "known to all over a year ago".  How did Sweden's "experiment" go?  How is Florida's and Texas's going now?

Ioannidis is simply flat-out wrong on this issue.

1. after, ca. 1.5 year of, corona virus spreading, in the world,
most people are immune /protected, so have herd immunity, already.

1.2 most people in the world, not know,
one or more people who got, serious sick or died of this.

2. most people in the world who, got a positive, pcr or ant-gen, test result,
are not sick, at least not serious sick.

2.2 so called, full hospitals, with symptoms of stress and a worse life-style now,
has not a virus as source.

3. now we know for a fact, "this" pandemic
was not so bad and it is over, in the world.

3.2 all people who not learned yet, have to learn, to take
self-responsibility for its daily life.

4. to keep a mindset, .. act out of fear, because of wrong informed
of what is, right and wrong, .. is always your choice.

4.2 without all the, problem mentioned on, tv /tell a "vision",
you can enjoy life much, in "this" world. :)

Why should Thailand stop exporting AZ? Its income for the government. The PM, all government and their families are all vaccinated so they don't need more vaccine. They need money. Simple. And citizens? Who cares? For sure not the gov.

Oh, cheer-up, Nor. What a gloomy debut post, but thanks for that anyway!

Except there are people who had covid, got better and had antibodies, and now catched the delta variant of covid. So far for not needing the vaccine.
