Well bugger me if I didn't just post on a AN forum about this very same subject. 

That forum was about plans to put a bridge across to the island.  And already the land grab had begun. 

It'll end up with all islands being commercialised.  One hope the infrastructure is planned to cope,  not like so many other places that have failed.

Speaking of infrastructure and Koh Chang 

 

I was there in May

 

On Sunday, the line of cars lined up pn the street to get on the ferry stretched for miles

 

I'd imagine it would take hours to just get back to the mainland on a Sunday
