Following the murder of a Swiss tourist at an isolated waterfall on the island of Phuket last week, officials have been busy identifying other potential danger spots. Nation Thailand reports that the Phuket sandbox command centre has named 6 locations that could pose a risk to tourists. Provincial governor Narong Woonciew has called on local authorities to tighten security at each of the locations. Officials and tourism operators on the island are concerned about the future of the sandbox scheme and the island’s reputation among potential tourists and overseas tour operators following last week’s murder of Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf. Pretty well any location where there are those who don't know 'right' from 'wrong'.

Officials will verify their ID with a police database to prevent persons with a criminal record from entering the sandbox area.”

So you require a Police check to apply for a Phuket Sandbox COE now?

Next, there'll be a ban on those with shoe-size 10 or above.

They announce this, the same time as they announce that there will be a massive sell of Phuket, to overseas tour operators.

The place has all but died, nothing open that a tourist would be interested in.

How many times do you want them to buy a tile with their name on it,  and slap on the Big Budda?  For God sake, yawn, yawn, yawn! You don't come here for cultural enhancement!

You come here for a good time, and to treat and pamper yourself, and pay peanuts for it. Or that's the way it was and should be,  before Phuket overpriced itself. We expect people to come to a shithole masquerading as a tropical paradise, and pay through the nose for everything.

Unless it is made easy and welcoming for tourists, with few restrictions, and value for money, all we will be waiting for is  the death certificate to be signed.

Always risky having a wang khee on waterfall.  But safer than having one near a ladyboy

Laughing my arse off Bob! Love it.

Are the roads now also considered dangerous? Or dark sois? Better let tourists stay in their hotel after sunset. Or maybe all the time! Swimming in a pool is also safer than swimming in the sea. Maybe tourists should stay at home at all and just send their money, that would be the best solution, they would not also be shot in the leg just in case they are in the wrong place at the wrong time. Rest assured, Thai authorities will take care of you.
