This has been going on to my certain knowledge for the past 20 plus years.  It won't stop until the Authorities get a real grip of it, which they will not.  Move on.

How is something that has been a daily occurrence for decades news? If a taxi won't use the meter you just tell him to go away and flag another taxi.

It's literally taking me no more than 2 mins to find a taxi to put on a metre after some have refused

All over Bangkok for 20 years

Sure they should use their metre but it's never been an issue finding one easy enough

I'd say it's much harder in NYC to find a taxi during rush hour

They all put thier "not available " sings on

I went out last night for dinner, I flagged down 6 taxis all wanted 200 baht for a 75 baht meter journey, they are a disgrace, I can afford the 200 but it’s the principle for me eventually the 7th taxi agreed with a smile, but it’s high time the authorities cracked down on this, but we all know it will never happen, too much trouble I guess.

It has never been that easy in Bangkok  after around 2300.
