I disagree with first best time to travel. The worst time to come to CM is from late February to mid May. This is the when the skies a blanketed with smoke. We live 3kms from the normally clearly visible Doi Suthep mountain. During this time the smoke is so dense you cannot see the mountain from our house. The rainy season, which we are in now, is actually one of the better times to come. The weather is quite good and it’s not overrun with tourists. Wat Chedi Luang, as mentioned by the author is other-worldly, a definite must if you decide to visit.

Agreed. I was there a couple of weeks ago and it was great. There were two solid rainy days but on the other days, conditions were great for getting around, not too hot and relatively few tourists.

Rainy season is only risky if the day by day schedule is tight and weather dependent. I’d definitely go in rainy season again 👍
