Never swerve for a cat, dog or chicken.  Elephant is a different story.

How many people die or are seriously injured due to this action?  Bike riders are even more prone.

I would have hit the dog square on and put it out cold.  No injury/pain.

Live and learn ladies.

I would guess that they didn't think they would stop in time, hence why they swerved.

I'd rather kill an animal outright than injure it.

For example a dog runs out of a side street or Soi.  You don't have a chance to stop in time. Do you swerve?  Do you brake knowing that you will still likely hit and injure it?  Or do you run it over and then check that it's dead?

Car - swerve. Bike - brake and hit. It’s a lose lose situation for me. My missus would determine it was my fault even if it leapt from a balcony directly in front of my vehicle.

May be dog in the imagination....it is clear that they were speeding and it sweverd and skid into the collision against the tree in high speed. From the impact it is clear that they were easily around 120km/hr during the wee hours of the day.
