"Ekarat explained that although the contractor initially cleared the dust from the tunnel before its opening, strong winds subsequently blew the dust back inside."

Yeh - right - of course.  I wonder - was that Contractor a company owned by someone who is a relative of one senior managers of the SRT?  Will there be another Contract given to the Contractor to install a proper dust removal system - like what these guys offer - Underground ventilation and dust removal systems for mines & tunnels (cogemacoustic.com)

I am not expert. but it seems to me that a few cylinder fans every few hundred yards (as shown in the photo) aint going do the job.  And aint those fans the ones used for extracting vehicle exhaust fumes, rather than the much heavier particles from construction and general dust.

No - I must be wrong - construction projects in Thailand are always done to the highest international standards, under the best possible value for money Contracts.  (and why would I and many 10s of millions of Thais refuse to pay income taxes to help them waste-spend more money on quality construction contracts)

Don't worry AussieBob,  they've got money to burn.  And if it runs low then they'll just print off another few billion baht to see them thru.

Bribe the masses with free digital wallet handouts and everyone's happy.

If there still isn't enough satangs to go around then open the gates to more countries.  We all know they will bring lots of dollars into the economy.  Doesn't matter where they're from, if the can come here they must have spare cash.

I agree,  contracts seem to be awarded with no real checks and balances put in place.  A lot of reactionary decisions once the public or media highlight problems.   Accountability = ZERO.

But I must say,  construction/infrastructure happens a lot quicker than back home.   I look at some of these motorways and are blown away to their size etc.   The M6 from Nakhon Ratchasima to Sai Thong/Khao Yai is just amazing.

Looks like mother nature is not happy with the contractor blowing the dust out of the tunnel. So she blow them back into the tunnel from where it came from....🤣

it could be mainly from the diesel locomotive that emits all these dusty smoke when passing through the tunnel. How efficient is the exhaust ventilation system to remove all the smoke and dust from the 5.4km tunnel? This will be a never ending story again as the contractor and mother nature will be playing a Tom and Jerry cartoon clips.

Enough of this conspiracy nonsense.

''Ekarat explained that although the contractor initially cleared the dust from the tunnel before its opening, strong winds subsequently blew the dust back inside.''

It's that climate at it again.
