That's decent price for charcoal. I'm a fan of grilling my protiens, bringing a nice little grill over from America so I'll be sure to pick up a bag quite often.

I've seen the mounds they make to burn, looks to be dirty work with very little payout. Yet from SnapDragons own posts you can tell trees grow prety fast in the tropics apparantly.

Kun; the guy that works for us, makes between 80 and 100 sacks each season. This year it could be over the ton, as he has stacks of wood waiting to be demoisturised. I'll take some pics as soon as I can.

As for eucas growing. Progress is quits slow until they get to about 12 months young. Then they really shoot up.

I started taking pics from the same spot - every three months - when they first went in the ground in June 2020. I'll post the whole sequence if any TT member is interested.

Jeepers Snap,  I haven't kept up with your posts so it's taken me about half an hour to read everything.

Seems like you had a bit of rain, a fair bit of mud about.

That bike you took a photo of

image.png.7d9427f9391d342332a30a296c652916.png

It's a Ducati Diavel. Looks to be an older one but still a beast 1260cc, approx 160hp.

Can buy new in Thailand for around 900,000 baht.

My son rode one in NZ. He said they were surprisingly comfortable but too powerful.  You don't really ride them, more like just hold on!

How's your revamped Mio?

Thanks for that info bud. Sounds like a scary beast.

I had a couple of bikes some years ago, but as soon as I was able, I graduated to cars.

Every Friday evening, a few of us would gather in the car park behind Dagenham's Civic Centre, with out our Ford Cortinas. One Friday an acquaintance of mine turned up with a Cortina Lotus. We were jealous. Especially so, cause all the fluzies flocked round him. Offering a ride for a ride type of thing. He never drove it out of the car park though.

It was parked in the corner and it stayed there until Monday when it disappeared. Turned out he had had it away from up west.

Next thing ya know, they put a gate across the car park entrance, and locked it each evening. We had to find a new gathering spot after that.

Those Cortina Lotus's are quite scarce now and worth a few bob.

Step mother had a Mk3 1600. Piece of crap.  Sounded like a tractor but a Massey Fergusson had more go than that thing.

The more modern Capri I liked.... again they are as scarce as hens teeth.

Also the Escort was a nice car.

Ahhhh the old cars huh!  Humber Super Snipe,  Mk4 Zephyr Zodiac,  Lotus Super 7...the list could go on.

City - the last 100%er - got held at home by the gunners. My prediction for winning the Championship still top. The other two, Hatters and Owls not faring so good.

I’m sticking with Burnley to win it although they sold Berge to Fulham… My three picks still alive and well…

And no team anywhere south of the Hawthorns in the top 6…  Ey up the North!

I thought they were a great looking piece of kit. But being a Dagenham Dock lad; it was a Ford Cortina or nothing.

There were some right dogs out there in those days though. I had an Austin Allegro for some time. What a piece of junk! Every time I went out something new would go wobbly. Then here were a couple of European monsters. My mate Dave bought a Fiat Strada on the cheap. Couldn't drive it in the rain. And the early Skodas were crap. Although they improved massively later.

Yes in NZ we lumped Skodas in the same basket as Ladas.

Lots of jokes about those cars.

Guy goes into a auto parts store and asks if he's  got a sparkplug for a 72 Skoda.  Parts guy says yes,  that's a fair swap.

How do you triple the value of a Lada? Fill the tank up.

Why did Ladas come with rear window heater as standard? To keep your hands warm when you're pushing it.

Grandfather had a Skoda for a while. He couldn't wait to get rid of it.

NZ Police have recently changed their fleet to Skoda... They've improved that much.  Now a very reliable car.

I really liked those TVR cars  from Blackpool. Sadly no longer made.

All the plus points of the Lada disappeared when they started making them without the starting handle option. My mate Dave had one, and he was forever looking for a downward slope when he wanted to park up. In the newer versions, the leccy windows were such a strain on the battery that he wouldn't wind them down.

What was important to us Dagenham lads though, was the softness of the back seat in the Cortina. Also its durability. Soon got moaning from the Essex girls if the seat was not comfy and a spring was sticking out. Last thing ya wanted to hear at a time of passion was; ''There's someting sticking right in me.''

In the final episode of The Grand Tour the boys drove a Lancia Montecarlo, a Ford Capri, and a Triumph Stag across Zimbabwe. Great show - a fine way to finish off Top Gear and Grand Tour.

You boys had it good - back in Australia when we were first getting cars in the 70s, most of us had to get an old Holden or Ford - now those cars were an absolute heap of bull's excrement.  Every trip away (and it is a big country) was an adventure.

Yes! I remember it. what chemistry they had together.

They also built a new bridge over the River Kwai. And they drove to the North Pole. Didn't they find the source of the Zambezi River?

Great viewing.

Well yes and no.

I remember an episode with Sharon from Tilbury, in the Cortina.

''Snaps!''

''Yes dear.''

''There's something stinking right in me.''

''Oh Shar. You are witty.''

''Not your little Gibraltar silly. Something sharp in me bum.''

She told all her mates about it. Tried to fix the spring. No good. Had to buy a new back seat down the scrap yard.

But enough of past glory in the Cortina. What about the new arrival?

Delivered yesterday.

Mrs Snaps bought it on the www. ''Bank not good. Something wrong with it. You pay for it. I'll make you nice cup of tea.''

Ref. the Lada. I remember years ago, front page of The Sun one morning was a story on this bloke whose Lada had rolled over the cliff edge at Beachy Head. When he got down to the car he stuck the ignition key in and it started first time.

There was congestion on the roads the next morning as loads of Lada drivers were pushing their cars towards Beachy Head. True story.😂
