i think that's what we drink in Bangkok now, cause all drinking water is a primary surface water of the Chao Phraya River. i am pretty sure that's where all sewage and storm water is dumped

Poms have been drinking it for years now. They did boast that every drop of water in UK had been through someones kidneys at least 3-4 times.

As for Thailand have a look in one of these "water factories" you may want to to boil your drinking water.

This should be old news. Singapore had this water purification process for years. It's called " "NEWater". Not that its anything "New" now.

My old schoolmate is involved in water cleaning for more than 30 years. Sewage water and waste water from the food industry. Mostly anaerobic treatment.
Built wastewater treatment plants all over the world for Heineken, Anheuser Busch, Interbrew, SAB Miller, Pepsi, Coca, Delmonte, Beer Lao, Thai Amarit...
Not so much interest from companies before, except since the waste after treatment can be used to drive electricity generators... suddenly it was more interesting.
Anyhow, sewage water treatment for re-use is done frequently in Europe.

desalination could be the answer
