Killing a Monk in Thailand is considered beyond redemption and is totally unacceptable - no matter what the reason.  What amazes me is that he did not accidently fall and hit his head and die - or that he had not committed suicide by hanging rather than face the consequences. The problem is that if his body was full of bullet holes that would have been too obvious.

He admitted to raping his niece, claiming that he was intoxicated at the time. He acknowledged his habitual drinking, which he said led to sexual urges. 

It is good that he knows his problem and acknowledges that. Now he has to decide what he wants. Either furgo he habitual drinking or his little John. He cannot have both as it might lead him to another disaster...
