Santipon Faksang, 31, who suffered a broken nose in an April 19 assault as he left a Manhattan subway station, remains unnerved about walking the New York streets as his assailant remains on the loose in a year where anti-Asian hate crimes soared by nearly 400% citywide.

Faksang needed surgery after he was sucker punched in the face by a dark-skinned man who attacked him as they exited the subway station at Broadway and W. 28th St. around 11:30 p.m

“Go back to your country,” the [attacker] man said after turning around and landing the blow to an unsuspecting Faksang’s face. “Don’t follow me. Get Away from me.”

Not to excuse the attackers behavior but you shouldn’t be following someone so close to another person around midnight in New York of all places. Americans value their personal space. It’s not like Thailand where you can stand shoulder to shoulder to complete strangers.

Personally I wouldn't even fly over the US , any country that allows its citizens to carry loaded firearms in public, allowable simply because the gun manufacturers pay huge money to it's politicians, is not a place I will ever visit. Nothing personal to Americans as many are fine people.

Is that a reason for punching someone in the face?

Barbaric.

Maybe. Following someone close at midnight is extremely shady! For all we know he could’ve stopped a mugging.

The terrified Queens resident said he had yet to tell his parents back in Thailand about the unprovoked assault by the fugitive suspect.

I think they found out now.
