To be fair as a foreign company why would you invest in a non democratic military dictatorship who at a whim might decide to seize all the assets?

Political risk is much more than  a country's risk of political instability. Political risk is a large grouping of risks that includes; taxe policy, national & local budget spending and debt, the business regulatory environment, currency valuation, trade tariffs, labour laws and sustainability regulations that include zoning, environmental regulations and climate policy.
