Kota Kinabalu was an interesting destination. It is well worth the visit.

Sabah in general - did a couple of trips there a while back. First time was Mt. Kinabalu and then bus to Sandakan, the road at the time was mostly unpaved and l spent quite a lot of the journey waiting for bulldozers to arrive to clear the landslips. Second time was a diving trip to Sipidan, back when there was a dive resort actually on the island - fabulous diving, and they had VERY strict rules in place to protect the turtles.
