Which species of frog are involved? In Cambodian fishmongers, captive bred, but adult Rana (or Lithobates) catesbiana (North American bullfrog) are sold for human consumption. This is by origins a North American species and it was the French who introduced it to the Khmer palette. R. catesbiana, like signal crayfish, have colonised wild habitats, and they are now introduced to E & SE Asia. The tadpoles in the photograph, do look like they might be R. catesbiana to me.
