What rubbish. The brain has no 'rational section' and at no point is the brain 'completely mature', because it changes throughout human aging.

25 is a convenient way to express 'some middle point between 20 and 30' for cultures with decimal counting. A similar factoid would have it, human bone growth ceases at 25. It doesn't.

Its well known teenagers make poor judgements in 'hot' situations, meaning emotionally charged with peer pressure encouragement.

Young people are more prone to mistakes regarding driving, sex, and substances, where 'hot' situations are likely to happen.

But in ordinary 'cold' situations, they fare as well as other adults when making situational decisions.

Male teenage brain : sex. alcohol, parties, more sex. Female teenage brain: sex, parties, clothes, beauty products, more sex.

This is not difficult to work out.

There are cultural factors involved as well - consider the ages of servicemen who die in battle.

About 40% of the US combat deaths in Vietnam were of 19 and 20-year-olds, and you can bet that the rest grew up real quick .....
