Who, in their right mind, didn't know this was going on, and would explode with the lack of concern the TAT and the government have demonstrated in chasing the holy grail of Russian and Ukrainian money after the invasion?

The Russian mafia has been in the country for some time.  Invite in more Russians and you invite in more crime.  Simple.

The Russians have tried all this before, in Pattaya in the mid/late 90s, muscling in on the territory of the locals.  The Thai Mafia got rid of them that time,  double quick, sometimes in the most brutal of ways.

Sad to say they didn't get rid of them just weakened them and drove them a bit more underground, they are emerging again now in force in many places in Thailand
