Not sure how you can confidently frame it as getting beaten up over a 2,800 baht bill.

I could be wrong but it didn't look to me like they were trying to de-escalate and then security were like, "well we see you're trying to play it cool but we must absolutely beat the shit out of you anyway because 2,800 baht and that's what we love to do"

But yes, it all originated from a 2,800 baht bill, legitimate or not.

Hopefully they're well.

Yesterday there were rumours the English guy had died… but today international media have reported he is in the ICU in a critical state.

As he was on the floor, already beaten up and harmless, one of the bouncers ran up and kicked his head as if taking a penalty…

DM has quite the summation of Thai logic with this;

The tourist in the video who was attacked has not filed a police report, so we cannot assign an investigating officer. There's no case open until they complain. We've had a look around but can't find them.

Speaking today, Sergeant Major Arthon from the Pattaya City police station, said that the three security guards have since been warned about their conduct but they have not been arrested or charged.

And the Tourism authorities express surprise when told of Pattaya's negative image.

Their sources seem to be rumours as well.

Someone also later said they went themselves to the place and the girls said the guy had got up and left before the ambulance arrived.. which hopefully happened and I wasnt trying to excuse the running kick, just daring to hope less unreasonable people might have experienced a non violent outcome.

New footage has emerged showing the three of them leaving by foot.

Well, this is a blind spot for the current administration. Australia went through the same thing about 40 years ago (an unregulated security industry). Turns out these ‘bouncer jobs’, are an attractive career for thugs, boneheads and practicing psychopaths.

After several years of incidents of hotel and club patrons being killed or bashed senseless by these knuckle draggers the government made registration for all security workers compulsory and clamped down the practices of pubs and clubs on the serving of alcohol- the other part of the equation . All to good effect.

I would never visit a shit hole like Pattaya, but a minimum expectation from those who do visit would be to be able to leave an establishment without the fear of  being jumped by a pack of thugs disguised as security staff.

I'm under the impression the cops knew that all along but couldn't be bothered to tell everyone.

Have you even seen the videos? I saw nobody getting "jumped". The fact that they've been alright all along and didn't try to press any charges should tell you something.

Yeah, so you’re going to focus on the word ‘jumped’ and disregard the  analysis of whole incident. A question for you; In what universe is okay for security personnel or regular folk for that matter, to kick in head, someone lying on the ground in a defenceless position? I don’t know where you come, but where I come those thugs would be  hauled before the courts facing charges of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm. And THAT’S the crux of the matter.

And the argument that, ‘well nobody ended up coma’ as some sort of means to down play the behaviour is absurd. That he (the victim) didn’t end up in a coma was pure luck. Good luck with that line of argument in a court of law.

The kick at the end can't be justified and too many Thai security are there looking for a fight, that is 100% true

but these guys were looking for a fight as well and one broke the security guards nose

So to me, it was just a fight that they lost, plain and simple

They were puffing out their chest and on the ground like turned over turtles in a matter of minutes..........

Disingenuous.

Of course that kick was wrong. I'm not downplaying it cause nobody died. I'm saying the fact they didn't go to the police should tell you they themselves don't think they were victims, and certainly didn't get JUMPED. Decent chance they pick fights all the time.

They have gone to the police though.

Is this a link to an article that you haven't read?

"Pol Col Nawin Theerawit, chief of Pattaya police, said on Wednesday that officers located the two foreigners shown in viral video clips of the assault and asked them to provide statements and file a complaint against the attackers."

The police went to them. Are these your friends or do you simply have a problem with Thais? I'm perplexed by your persisting bad faith.

No. You keep missing the point. The point is these idiots should not be employed in crowd control. It has already been stated that they were working without the necessary documentation. Professional security staff are trained in diffusing situations like the one above- not to exacerbate the situation, which the video shows they did. I don’t know why you have decided to make this an issue of race.
