Um.  After that last excellent article on retirement, this one is a bit misleading, in my view.  The legal, work visa issues are not at all easy to navigate and it's important to note that if your visa is a None O or None OA, based on retirement,  you cannot get a work permit, without a change of visa. .  It's easier with a marriage visa, but age will always be against you, as will the matter of language and very different cultural and labour laws.  Even Thais have enormous problems holding on to jobs from middle age onwards, even professionals.  I have known specialists in the health field, even noted doctors, being denied work here due to both being farangs and  up to or past normal retirement age.   The only post retirement people (60 +) I know that are working, are doing so on a  Business or Investment Visa,  and usually in their Thai owned family business, or on a marriage visa,  again in their Thai family owned business.

Thailand is a place that I would always  say merits consideration as a place to retire, however, it's one of the last countries I  would recommend as a location for post retirement age working.. Just a personal view of course.
