Are they sure that people will fly all the way to south in view of the unwanted incidences happening there? None of the travel insurace company in Thailand is covering for travel to deep south or via deep south. How can they be confident that the tourists will fly there for gambling in Casino. They would rather prefer to fly to Malaysia or Singapore for a better safety should they wanted to go to Casino.

No, no and more no.

Songkhla is quite nice as a uni town with a sleepy vibe, albeit the provincial capital.  A casino or "entertainment complex" would be a terrible addition.

And you can keep those Chinese betting tourists.  We don't want them.

Comparing Songkhla to Genting is a huge stretch.  Genting became what it was because it's up in the highlands, where it's cool and fresh.  There's the double attraction of getting away from the heat, along with their entertainment options.
