Do I recall correctly?

Was there not a plan to run an F1 street circuit some years ago in BKK. Last I heard of it was that it was being reconsidered as some thought the sounds of the cars might be heard from the Royal Palace.

Why not E1? Boost leccy car sales.

This merely exposes just what a mediocre thinker Settha is. This is not a "vision", as though it were written by angels across the sky, it is just another dumb stunt.

And simply copying the world by running F1 races is hardly playing to the strengths that have made Thailand a tourism powerhouse. It's not exactly the first thing that comes to people's minds when they think about booking a holiday to Thailand.

At least he avoided using the dreaded phrase 'soft power'.

12km from my house, I may just support this idea.  It's a good decision, as the new dueled road from Pattaya to Sattahip is already a race track and a regular killing ground for speedsters.

Does anyone still watch Formula 1?

Sometimes, but not with any real enthusiasm.  This last GP at Imola, pre race,  I predicted the first 4, then went to bed after lap 25.  I was correct, so what was the point of watching it when I knew the eventual outcome.  So far, my pre race predications have all been spot on, bar Miami.  F1 is an engineering design competition, not a sport.
