Visa renewal date and return ticket?
I obtained the 90 day Non-O Retirement Visa on Oct 24, 2023 and it expired Jan 21, 2024. I also have the 1 year extension of permit to stay until Jan 21, 2025 (mistyped some dates before). I have a multiple exit/reentry permit arranged at immigration before leaving that says good until Jan 21, 2025. It appears then if I enter ~Jan 6, 2025, I will be stamped in to the expiration date of my current permit to stay (Jan 21, 2025) but wonder if I can ask for the immigration officer NOT to honor that Re-Entry Permit, but provide me with a 30-day Permission to stay. Again it sounds like on my entry ~Jan 6, 2025, I will not need to show an Exit flight since my permission to stay is still valid (though only for a few week more after I arrive). -

News Forum - Police target tourist scammers in major Pattaya cleanup
Bushwa! Nothing but hot air. How many times over the last decade have we heard about campaigns to make Pattaya "safer for tourists" and that some bigwig "patrolled" Walking Street? There are (at least) ten know criminal gangs operating in the city? WTF are the Boys in Brown doing? They have a limited time campaign, this one for a total of 6 days, and then those brown envelopes will start moving around again. The lack of self respect of the officials who pose this garbage, merely so that it gets press and pictures, without actually accomplishing anything stated, is just amazing. -

News Forum - Government may raise foreign condo ownership limit to 75%
Bad ideas, at least for Thais who wish to own condos or property in the future. This will allow a continued elevation of prices, that foreigners may be willing to pay but Thais will not. Allowing 99-year leases only makes sense if the lease ends with the death of the original purchaser and can't be transferred or bequeathed. The problem is the current government hasn't an effing clue how to stimulate its own economy and keeps going back to the same well - someone else's money. That's the only plan they have...bring in someone else's money. Don't worry about infrastructure, education, regional competitiveness...just bring in someone else's money. It exemplifies the short view - lack of long view approach that seems endemic in this society.
