I'd be willing to bet some serious coin that this story and other stories of Chinese tourists behaving badly don't get the same social media traction on Weibo and similar sites back in China, like those stories of them being "mistreated" while tourists here.

True, but I bet he gets a visit from state security when he returns to PRC.

If state security does visit him, the problem won't be the crimes -- they were committed against lesser beings (i.e. non-Chinese) so who cares.  The problem will be that he brought public disrepute on China.
