This is the same in the UK and often caused by these graduates believing they are entitled to walk into management jobs and not prepared to consider anything less.

The younger generations are not ready to go through the hardship of life. All they want is like a fantasy world which happens in the movies. Today Pauper and tomorrow Millionaire. It is a global phenominan. Happens in every country. Let them face the reality. Then they will realize what is the real meaning of life. 59.26% quit their jobs (no reasons mentioned)

I was getting ready to comment something similar. 

I've seen the same phenomenon in other countries I've lived, where uni grads are still unemployed a year or more after graduation, and for one reason only, they think they're entitled to something greater than an entry level position and salary.

Of all the grads mentioned in this article, how many actually studied in a field that would be directly related to the tourism industry?  Very few, I'm sure.

And those with university aged children know that many wind up studying in programs that they aren't interested in, nor plan a career in, because the placement selection process in this country is fooked to the max.  The ability to choose your major is incredibly rare.

My stepdaughter graduated with a degree in Chinese language and my son with a degree in Engineering.  Neither were they first choices for either of them and surely neither will work in the field of their study. They have uni degrees, and that's it.

Thailand needs to revamp its university policies to produce graduates that want to work in their fields and contribute to the growth of the country.

Exactly.....with the focus of 270 million tourists by 2037 and assuming 20% is going to patronise Pattaya, Thailand needs a lot of young talented people to accomodate them accodingly to satisfy the needs of the visiting tourists. It is really a good fortune for them to make.

I was in Koh Samui this time last year, almost every employee at the resort and boat trips was Burmees to the point my wife started arguing with them about how they dont speak Thai.

Just stop importing foreign labour, problem solved.

I can’t speak for what has occurred here, however back home tertiary education has become commodified to the extent that it has become a source of exploitation.
