Coral bleaching is a stress related event, a high risk, physiological survival attempt by the coral, when it is subjected to ambient stressors. They can recover from bleaching events, but only if favourable conditions return swiftly enough. Some species of symbiotic/photosynthetic corals are more resilient than are others.

I don't see how tourists being present or not, can cause or prevent a coral bleaching event.
