This incident should not go to complete waste. The "authorities" and/or village leaders should attempt to use this case as an educational tool within the police force and the wider community. I suspect this Sargent will see little jail time... he should eventually be tasked with telling this story to future police graduates. He should be encouraged to take full responsibility for his negative karma and attempt, moving forward, to mitigate that. In other words, transform this tragedy into an agent a vehicle of positive change... -

The problem is that drunk driving is not seen as a serious offence in Thailand and is rarely enforced. -

News Forum - Pattaya mayor tackles water shortages with major projects
Thailand does okay. In The UK, a supposed First World Country, there is no National water system, just a set of localized commercial companies, doing their own thing, badly. There can be a water shortage in the South, while there are floods 150 miles away. It's a disgrace. In comparison, Thailand is years ahead in water management, and in a demanding tropical climate at that.- 1
