The Phuket City Police did not comment on the parking ticket issued for the transgression, nor did they elaborate on the penalties for the other two offences.

The incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of violating traffic rules and attempting to evade law enforcement.

Well the tourists knows very well, that in Phuket Thai laws doesn't apply to foreigners. The law only apply for Thais in the island as it belongs to foreigners literally. He know very well all these actions by the authorites are only for paperwork and statistical collections. Nothing will impact him and he had walked a way squat free.

Strange reasoning.
I saw many farangs on motorbike stopped for not wearing a helmet, while Thais can pass.

That is strange as it is always foreigners I see pulled over for not wearing crash helmets etc whilst the police ignore the Thais doing the same thing.

He now faces a charge of “attempting to damage, destroy, depreciate or render useless the vehicle’s control equipment,” as outlined under Section 159 of the Traffic Act. Additionally, he has been charged with “attempting to commit an offence” under Section 80 of the Criminal Code."

How exactly is the law not being applied to foreigners here?

That is because if a farang is injured, then it is a burden to the Thai medical system as many come here expecting free service without any proper insurance coverage. Later expecting cloud funding  to bail them out. So it is better to focus on that. Where as locals they have their medical coverage and it is not an big hassel for them should anything happens to them.

555 Are you dreaming. It is in fact because foreigners are perceived as having more money and being easier to extort by the Royal Thai Police.
