Interesting topic. Scored two. 

Don't know how they establish temperatures. We have a thermometer outside the house in the shade. It has often read above 40 this year. Last year (2023), it went above 40 more often than not - usually between 13-00 and 14-00 - from mid-March until May.

The hottest place I've ever been to was Lindos in Greece. Often over 45C in July/August. Wow!

You beat me on score. All i can remember on very high temperatures in Thailand  is my first visit, when I did the trekking thing from Chiang Mai, drank vast amounts of water and still didn't take a piss for three days. Hottest place I have ever been was Lake Turkana in the far north of Kenya, where the temperatures can hit 50C, it felt like the air was being sucked out of your lungs.

Anywhere there is  concrete and no vegetation, it will be excessively hot, which is why Bangkok is insufferable.  I am astounded that in so many of the new housing developments in Hua Hin, everything is paved over. No trees on the sois and when it rains, no option of runoff going into the ground, just into the  sewer. The environmental common sense is a zero from these developers.  Even China is making an effort with the option of grating around street trees and trying to green building rooves.
