Why are small businesses being picked on, and closed, yet big business seems to face alot less restriction?

OK, on the topic of Civid and restrictions, this is specifically addressed to the "defenders of the realm", who often say they are not doing a bad job here, look around the world at all the Covid problems.

My chief complaints about Covid here are the uneven way the lockdowns and shutdowns, and restrictions are imposed, and the mega failure of the vaccination program.

So, I have a riddle for you guys. Just went to Tesco. There were typical clusters of three to eight people waiting on line. Outside, all of the small shops were shut down. In addition to the small kiosk shops. A small shop in front usually has one person working, who is serving one customer, at most, in the fresh air, with circulation. So, how is this a greater hazard than the groups inside Tesco, with little circulation, and the same applies to Home Pro, Makro, etc.?

Any reasonable explanation for this? Or is it simple picking on the little guy, and sabotaging more lives and creating more economic peril, without the backing of any sort of reason or science? Where is the science to back up such restrictions? Is there any? Or is this simply corporate favoritism, and the incessant choice or the little guy over the big guns?

The other shops are not considered essential. Without food, people die. Without what the other shops provide, people are inconvenienced.

Check who the owners are of the big stores for your answers. 
 

I see one tweak from the last lockdown is you cannot pick up your delivery personally but must get a food delivery company to get it, now go and check where Food Panda sympathies lie and why hundreds of thousands of enlightened Thai youths have deleted the app this week ! It stinks tbh

As Benroon says, check on who owns these bigs stores, & if said owners have an interest in vaccines....

It is not really that complicated and what Thailand is doing is basically a straight copy of what the U.S. did last year.

We all know shutting down a small business but letting the large ones operate does nothing to slow the spread of the virus but they want to APPEAR to be doing something.

Anything.

It helps to understand the reaction to Covid when you notice not one gov't employee has missed a check, the worlds richest have become even wealthier, no companies in the S&P500 have been negatively impacted to any great degree.

Actually, I have been talking to alot of people who are complaining about the bizarre nature of the regulations and the uneven application of the restrictions. So, the people are catching on, and few are taking things at face value anymore.

There may have been a percent of the people who were still loyal to the regime, up until recently. But, the extent to which these guys have botched the vaccination program, and the response to the latest waves, have reduced those loyalists to a very small number now.
