Government says ongoing vaccination and obeying the rules will drive infections down

Recommended Posts

If everyone obeys Covid-19 restrictions while the vaccination of high-risk groups continues, the Health Ministry predicts a big drop in new case numbers in the coming weeks. According to a Bangkok Post report, Kiattiphum Wongrajit says just a 5% increase in the public’s observance of disease prevention measures would be enough to make a significant difference. He adds that greater cooperation is needed to drive down transmission in the worst-affected provinces. “At this point, we must work together to contain the outbreak. We’d like to ask every sector to comply with lockdown measures, whether even just avoiding travelling to meet […]

Kh Kiattiphum must have had too much Exlacs for breakfast today as it is just running out of him now ?

The Bangkok Post reports that up to 80% of deaths are among elderly people with underlying health conditions, with Kiattiphum saying this is why the government is prioritising this group for vaccination.

Let's see, publicized kickoff of vax distribution was June 1st, why did it take 60+ days to get the priorities figured out and organized? Is it because they had pre-priorities such as VIP's, friends of VIP's, Military, educators of closed schools in line before those most likely to die. Just asking for a 69YO friend

Yes the priorities have to be aligned in military fashion as everyone knows, Hi-so to the front along with all those wearing medals (good photo opportunities). Medical staff can have the Sinovac they keep buying so CP keeps making money.

TIT.

The Delta variant is essentially a new threat. It can’t be controlled through constricting people’s behaviors as worked in Thailand with the initial versions of covid. Getting a high percentage of the population vaccinated as quickly as possible should be the primary focus. Without that cases and deaths will continue to grow along with strict control over people’s behaviors.

If it ever gets out that Ivermectin truly could have ended this as a prophylaxis treatment then lots of people in positions of power and authority need to hang.

Spot on there. Most of them need to hang regardless.

Pure tyranny

"Kiattiphum Wongrajit says just a 5% increase in the public’s observance of disease prevention measures would be enough to make a significant difference."

What 5% of the measures would make a significant difference?

What kind of statement is this?  Ah, yes...point the blame at someone else.

Right or wrong, Ivermectin is not seen as a prevention option widely enough yet. It may be. I don't know but the majority of chatter refers to its Treatment qualities post infection rather than as a prevention. Hence Governments tend to stick what is currently supplied. i.e. Vaccines, masks etc.

They are real concerns about the strength of "scientific and peer supported" proof of Ivermectin as an effective treatment for Covid-19 as people desire it to be. Unfortunately, for each piece of “proof” that it does help is cancelled out by another “proof” that it says it doesn’t. People and Governments are unsure of the best course of action despite what they are facing.

For example, the following Bangkok Post article identifies the concerns the Thai FDA has about Ivermectin and talks about awaiting results of clinical trials

 https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2140695/fda-warns-against-using-animal-drug-as-covid-treatment

Of most interest to me though is the manufacturer’s (Merck) own statement on their website.

https://www.merck.com/news/merck-statement-on-ivermectin-use-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/

Sure, it was in February, but if they were confident in its use, why wouldn’t they say so? After all, their profit dropped in the preceding 12 months and most major companies try and find ways to boost profits.

Their association with J&J for vaccines would help their profit but I have yet to see a major pharmaceutical company, usually greedy for profits, miss out on an opportunity for more profit except for one reason. They are scared at making an even bigger loss by a suit for supporting use of an unproven product. It seems they too may not be convinced by studies so far and could be waiting for results from what may be  more seemingly accepted clinical trials to complete and report back before doing anything.

Perhaps, this is a reason why Governments and drug approval bodies in different countries are currently hesitant to simply approve widespread use and not some conspiracy reason. It may be the answer. It may not. They too are simply waiting for the Manufacturer themselves to agree if it suits purpose.
