French Gov’t Report Declares Child Sex Changes Could Be ‘Greatest Ethical Scandal in Medical History’

 

A report from French lawmakers has concluded that child sex changes could be one of the “greatest ethical scandals in the history of medicine.”

The report, commissioned by members of the center-right Republican Party, outlines how healthcare providers have been influenced by trans-activist groups into violating basic medical standards.

Citing “tense scientific and medical debate”, the report accuses LGBT groups of promoting gender transition through aggressive social media campaigns aimed at vulnerable young people.

This is media hysteria. Chemical castration does not mutilate the body, not constitute a sex change. And kids can give informed consent generally, by the age they are prescribed these drugs.

Other than early orchiectomy, I don't think anyone does actual gender reassignment surgical procedures on minors. Ironically the chemical castration was phased in, because it's more reversible. But, it's still poorly studied, as to its own conaequences.

It should be a criminal offense to encourage this mental health crisis amongst children. Leave the kids alone.

True but it's not unique, a few years ago, it was overdiagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome, remember.

This is a medical issue and has been hijacked by groups who are exploiting it for political benefit. There are many valid reasons to postpone puberty or to initiate gender clarification before puberty. One of the few countries which publishes data is the USA. In the past 5 years, there are less than  950 patients with gender dysphoria under the age of 18,  who are being treated with puberty blockers.

The unpleasant reality is that gender dysphoria is a real medical condition and it is more likely found in certain populations. For example, that data suggests that there is a higher prevalence in people with illnesses such as schizophrenia and autism spectrum disorder. A genetic association is also identified as one of the causes of the condition. Heritability and familiality of the condition have been established. There is also  a genetic basis as  people with the condition show a specific sequence of nucleotides at a particular location on their DNA.

Please understand that there is a difference between adults who may believe that they are transgenders and the prepubescents who are born with a demonstrable gender dysphoria. Some of these children are born with endocrine systems and brains that have not developed properly such that a gender was not fully established.  others are born with damaged or missing genitalia, or reproductive organs. A kid may look like a male on the outside, but if there are no testicles or a malformed penis and a quasi uterus, an intervention is needed. If a child is subject to a chemical cocktail while in the womb it can disrupt gender assignment . This then must be completed  in childhood.

No-one is denying that there are valid reasons. People are rightly concerned with the ease of access and lack of accountability for these “gender clarifications”. There must be increased scrutiny and a more thorough vetting process for these life altering procedures. This report should be welcomed for the wake up it is, not dismissed as transphobic messaging. There is a middle ground in all this and we need to find it for the sake of the children.

The only positive correlation between GD and personality disorsers, or mental illnesses, is with things such as depression and body dysmprphia, unsurprisingly.
