I took my first of two river cruises in 2011 and was not impressed.  My second in 2017 was a little better but in all sincerity, improvements in both food and services were greatly needed. If the aim is to increase the numbers despite the drop in Chinese visitors, then additional training of staff is required. The scenery is breathtaking, and with improved service, it will become all that much better.

Famous Mama Tom Yum Noodles as part of the enhancements? For reference sake, you can get a package  of 10 X 2.12 oz. in Walmart USA for  $4.80 (artifical pork flavour, oriental style),  Mama chicken noodles sell for $0.48 for a package on Walmart Canada site. I don't understand.

Yes a river cruise is a nice way to watch the scenery. I have done it with the river taxis. Cheap, but fun and interesting and you get a real Thai experience with regular Thais. Do it off peak hours during the day and you will be sightseeing in relative comfort. Bangkok's river taxis are brilliant.
