Thaiger Talk Quiz #241 - Lotus's in Thailand

Recommended Posts

Since 'Tesco' was removed from the name, the prices have risen considerably. The cheapest 400gm of cat food in Lotus is 39 baht. In Big C, can get 3, of the same brand as in Lotus, for 99 baht. For the Americans; that's 32 baht a can. Quite a saving that.

Scored two.

Not at all. I like some American music. And they have produced some wonderful sports men and women down the years. One of my favourite films is about an American in space; Alien.. But!!!! They are still working in yards and pounds. To be fair, the UK was also, until a few years ago.

I think this is the problem with NATO. The Americans want feet and inches; the Euros centimetres. It's a dilemma for the top cheese.

America is a beautiful country run by &$%@ compromised/corrupted @£%&s.

That's why I was confused, you were talking about price per tin.

Metric units don't really enter in.

Well, only to say, that there are 100 baht to a 100 baht note.

When I went to school there were 240 'd's (pence) to the pound. And we were using bushels, and furlongs and guineas.

Of course change was inevitable as we moved closer to Europe. Metric took a hold. Except for prawns and winkles, which were still sold by the pint.

But they drive on the left in England; just like Thailand; being one of the few countries, outside the old British Empire, to do so. Sweden changed over in 1967. I remember it well. The horror! Turn-coats. I ditched my Swedish g/f. I did miss her for years afterwards though. Wonder where she is now.

What brand is that? The cheap cat food in Big C and Lotus is of their own brand from what I have seen (my cats are not fond of the Big C one).

It's true that both Big C and Lotus have their own brand. Last Friday - when I looked - it was 39 baht a tin.

The 99 baht for three tins was; Meow Meow brand. ''Tuna topping - whitebait in jelly.''

Sorry! Just got the calculator out. Three for 99 baht, works out at 33 baht a tin. Not 32.

Seemed like an obviously gratuitous slap at Americans, which makes your own error all the more ironic and entertaining.  Glass houses and stones, what.

Would have been better said, "For the Snapdragons; that's 33 baht a can."
