The only National Park that doesn't charge anything to both local and foreign tourists is Namtok Pha Charoen National Park in Tak. Their facilities are great and the park rangers really take good care of the park and the visitors. They allow to pitch tent and camp at night. The place is well lid at night and it is fully family safe. Thanks to the Park officials for maintaining such high standard. It is time that other national parks in Thailand also follow the same.

300,000,000 baht / 126,000 tourists = 2381 baht average entry fee for every adult, child, Thai, foreigner including "special service fees"

Are these figures correct?

last year's takings are stated as 276,000,000 baht
this years takings are stated as 300,000,000 baht
this is an 8% increase; not a "meteoric rise"

Quite so, Aytec. I misread it. Please disregard my final paragraph.

However I don't think there is any misunderstanding with my first point:

300,000,000 baht / 126,000 tourists = 2381 baht average entry fee for every adult, child, Thai, foreigner including "special service fees"

Charging for national parks is a mess. The parks are funded by entrance fees and government money....but it is totally mismanaged.

The parks that make money from entrance fees are mostly the marine parks that haul in thousands of tourists. The equally import and locked parks are underfunded and perpetually under manged causing great damage to wildlife and conservation and everywhere is perfect for corruption.

It is well established that to make money from a national parks the best policy is to have low entrance fees and then make money on extra services...e.g. guided tours,  camping and souvenirs
