That is a very low level of medical cover, even most basic travel insurances give between 1 and 5 million UK£ medical expenses cover. Of course it could be that their insurers have found out now that they were riding a motorcycle (which is specifically excluded from a lot of travel insurances) and have therefore now pulled the plug on any more payouts.
