News Forum - Transgender woman accused of pickpocketing tourist on Pattaya bus
Exactly, it's not the same societal issue here as it is in the West. Thais have long referred to ladyboys as "she". I recall being surprised by that during my first year here, long before wokism. I had a group of Thai friends at the time, one of them was a ladyboy but still dressed as a man because his parents were not OK with it at all. They all referred to him as "she/her" but I would spontaneously say "he/him" or say things like "I'm not kidding, man" in our conversations (I didn't speak Thai at the time) and that would make them laugh a lot (including the guy in question), like it was so funny that I should treat him as a man. -

The thing is, you live in Thailand Wouldn't most Thais refer to them as a "she"? I know they will ever refer to gay guys as "she" at times
