Elderly guy, 66. I'm always interested in the age when these incidents occur, it's the first thing I look for. A health related incident, in a potentially dangerous environment, is always a possibility, especially if supervision is lax, and there's some delay in pulling the guy out of the water.

Age is not necessarily a factor if he was in sound  health state.  Jacques Cousteau dived  well into  his 80's.
